International Student Visas Revoked
The Trump administration weaponzied the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to revoke the visas of international students who had been involved in any kind of police activity (including victims of crimes). I created the first publicdatabase of revoked visas and reported on the impact of the policy on students and universities across the country.

About this project
This was my first attempt at a real-time database, compiling various news reports and disclosures of students with SEVIS revocations in April 2025. The map, which is a shitty Flourish construction, was the first public-facing visualization of this data, which was replicated by much more established newsroooms (with better tech tools probably). A challenging project that required the newsroom to re-evaluate our processes for data projcets and was our most read story of the year.
